Senior Clinical Simulation Specialist
- Part time (0.8FTE), 2 year fixed term
- Dynamic role within the Clinical Simulation field located at Westmead Hospital Innovation Centre
- Base Salary $103,185 (pro-rata) 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
In this opportunity as a Senior Clinical Simulation Specialist, you will collaborate with academic staff to develop and implement clinical simulation scenarios that align with the program's learning objectives. Working with educators from various disciplines, you will deliver and evaluate clinical simulation training courses, ensuring they provide valuable hands-on learning experiences. You will also be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting simulation equipment, ensuring the readiness and functionality of simulation environments.
Working under broad supervision, you will plan and prioritize tasks, applying your expertise to select appropriate methods of instruction. You will handle routine matters related to your role while collaborating with colleagues to address and resolve more complex issues, ensuring high-quality delivery of clinical simulation training.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Develop, review, and test simulation scenarios that align with specific learning objectives to ensure effective training outcomes.
- Collaborate with educators across multiple disciplines to deliver and evaluate clinical simulation training courses for students in health programs.
- Organise and schedule regular maintenance checks for simulation equipment, manage inventory, and coordinate with vendors for repairs and equipment updates.
- Review simulation practices and procedures, making evidence-based recommendations for improvements in line with faculty objectives.
- Lead stakeholder communications, addressing concerns promptly and fostering a collaborative environment to ensure the success of simulation programs.
- Provide educational support and design effective environments for clinical simulation sessions, enhancing the learning experience for Faculty of Medicine and Health (FMH) students.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
- Registered Nurse with clinical experience and expertise in delivering a clinical simulation learning environment or registered Allied Health practitioners.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and proficiency in computer literacy, database management, and simulation software.
- Proven ability in critical thinking, decision-making, and effective communication, along with excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Experience working in clinical simulation facilities, supporting practical teaching programs, and managing specialist simulation equipment and technology.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and foster a positive, collaborative learning environment.
There is a requirement for this position to be on site. Limited hybrid working arrangements can be discussed with your manager if you are successful in this position.
