Senior Custodian of Event Venues
Position Summary
The Custodial Services Department is recruiting for a full time Senior Custodian of Event Venues. This position is responsible for performing a variety of custodial/housekeeping tasks to care, maintain, disinfect, sanitize, and preserve event venue facilities. Responsible for maintaining buildings in a clean and safe condition at all times and supporting conferences and special events. May work independently or as a part of a team. This position is eligible for a “shift” differential due to the different work schedules at the event venues. This position requires passing a post-offer physical and drug screen.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Full-Time position with the following work schedule: Evening Shift: Sunday – Thursday, 2:00 pm to 11:00 pm, with a 1-hour meal break.
- May be required to work weekends and after hours in support of special events and emergencies.
- Performs additional cleaning in support of conferences and special events.
- Assumes duties and responsibilities of lead custodian in their absence.
- Performs custodial functions using proper equipment, tools, methods and materials.
- Sweeps, scrubs, mops, waxes and polishes floors.
- Refinishes floors in classrooms, offices, corridors and restrooms.
- Vacuums carpets; shampoos and extracts carpets.
- Cleans bathroom walls, floors and fixtures; replenishes bathroom supplies.
- Cleans ceilings, walls, woodwork, furniture, chalkboards, marker boards, and interior/exterior glass.
- Empties trash s, replaces liners, and cleans s.
- Reports maintenance issues to Lead Custodian.
- Performs other related work as assigned by the lead custodian.
Qualifications
- Four years full-time custodial work experience required.
- Must be a self-starter that can work with minimum supervision.
- Knowledge of the materials and methods used in cleaning buildings.
- Ability to establish and maintain a positive and effective working relationship with other employees.
- Able to read and understand safety information, policies and procedures.
- Able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Willing to work within an annual 51-week work schedule with a different holiday schedule than Victoria College holiday schedule.
- Available to assist with occasional conference, special events, and programs.
- Willing to assist Victoria College staff, students, and visitors as needed.
- Must have a valid Texas Drivers License.
- A smart phone or other approved device and agree is required to install and utilize the ExakTime Mobile App to capture and record all employee time records.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to operate commercial cleaning equipment like floor buffer, vacuum cleaner, etc.
- Must be able to safely push, pull, carry or frequently lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must have ability to stand for a minimum of two (2) hours without a break.
- Must have the ability for reaching and stooping frequently.
- Must be able to climb step ladders, carry trash s and empty them into overhead bins, push and pull cleaning supply carts.
- Must be able to read and understand safety information, policies and procedures.
