About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Data Engineer to help drive our data and analytics capability forward.
This is your chance to step into a technical leadership role where your expertise will directly support the reliability, performance, and scalability of Curtin’s data platforms. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will independently design, develop, and maintain cutting-edge data pipelines, warehouses, and lakes, and mentor junior engineers to foster a high-performing, collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently lead design and implementation of robust, high-performing data solutions.
- Manage and enhance enterprise-scale data platforms.
- Turn uncertainty into potential by approaching challenges with proactive and innovative solutions.
- Embrace challenge as a catalyst for creative action and growth.
- Provide expert technical guidance across university-wide ICT projects.
- Ensure data solutions are secure, reliable, and aligned with best practices.
- Support service continuity and disaster recovery strategies.
- Mentor junior colleagues and collaborate across interdisciplinary teams.
Selection criteria:
- A relevant degree with extensive experience in data engineering or a related field
- Proven skills working with large datasets, databases and ETL pipelines.
- Expertise in modern data engineering tools and platforms (e.g., AWS, DevOps, Power BI, GitHub).
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Demonstrated experience with virtualised server environments and cloud-based architectures.
- AWS experience/expertise and certification (essential)
Desirable:
- Experience with tools like ServiceNow and Confluence.
Role Requirements:
