Senior Director of Enterprise Solutions
Job Description:
The Senior Director of Enterprise Solutions is responsible for
creating and supporting a service-oriented technology environment
and providing solutions in that environment that meet the needs and
improve the lives of the Washington and Lee University
community.
The Senior Director develops strategy and provides direction and
stewardship for all
W&L ITS owned and
supported enterprise systems, integrations, and solutions, while
managing a team of highly technical and consultative professionals.
This position also leads institutional technology-enabled change
through partnership, consultation, and cross-functional
collaboration. The Senior Director carries with it a high degree of
responsibility for identifying and configuring enterprise systems
and applications architecture, with an emphasis on maintaining a
secure, standards-based environment.

Essential Functions:
- Provides leadership for the Enterprise Solutions team. Manages
a team of technical and consultative experts who architect and
support enterprise systems, solutions and related
integrations.
Creates and executes strategy for the university's enterprise
solutions portfolio, including the enterprise resource planning
system, Workday, other key enterprise systems, integrations, and
related business processes. Ensures alignment of direction with
institutional and divisional priorities.
Provides leadership for enterprise application and integration
architecture, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, security
standards, and long-term sustainability.
Builds relationships with stakeholders to inform matters of
design and implementation of associated enterprise solutions.
Provides clarity in complex environments and demonstrates effective
communication with all clients regardless of level of technical
competence.
Partners with institutional stakeholders to advance data
stewardship, governance, and data management practices related to
enterprise systems.
Develops and implements a strategy for integrating team members
within the campus community and within cross-team ITS
efforts.
Maintains policy, security, regulatory, and audit-compliant
procedures for application development and support.
Ensures the reliability, availability, performance, and
continuous improvement of enterprise solutions and related
services. Demonstrates a deep understanding of enterprise
application delivery in a service-oriented architecture
environment.
Cultivates and manages a wide variety of vendor relationships
and integrates third-party products into the W&L technology
environment.
Manages complex projects and relevant project portfolios as
dictated by the overall needs of the University.
Follows the ITS Information Security Program and industry
standard best practices to help ensure the confidentiality,
integrity, and availability of all IT resources.
Additional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and five years supervisory/management
experience is required.
- Five to seven years' experience with managing enterprise
application environments and their components is strongly
preferred.
- Experience in higher education information technology is
preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work within an IT leadership team and
to mentor a team of highly skilled IT staff members. Ability to
motivate staff, support career development, and promote teamwork is
essential.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate openly, effectively and
professionally with all University constituents including
leadership, direct reports, students, faculty, and staff.
- Must have a customer-focused attitude and demonstrate past
success in deploying enterprise applications that meet customer
needs in a timely, effective, and innovative manner.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, and
organizational leadership skills.
- Demonstrated competency in adopting and integrating emerging
technologies and change management initiatives into existing
operations.
- Demonstrated success leading digital transformation,
application modernization, or enterprise service evolution
initiatives.

Exempt, Full Time, Benefit Eligible
Compensation:
The expected annual salary for this posting is between $142,000 -
$177,000. Offers are based on factors such as qualifications,
relevant experience, skills, internal equity, and market and
organizational considerations.
