Senior Director of Housing and Residential Education

Director for Residential Experience, Housing Coordinator, Residence Hall Directors, graduate assistants, and other assigned staff. Lead the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, supervision, evaluation, and professional growth of professional staff, graduate assistants, and student employees. Provide oversight for housing operations, occupancy management, room assignments, residential transitions, break housing, and summer housing operations in collaboration with the Housing Coordinator. Direct and participate in short- and long-range planning, including budget development and management, occupancy management, assessment, and initiatives that strengthen the residential experience and support divisional priorities. Collaborate with Enrollment Management and campus partners to support recruitment, retention, and student engagement initiatives. Provide leadership for residential conduct processes and support the consistent application of institutional policies and developmental responses that promote accountability and student learning. Adjudicate residential conduct matters and selected non-residential and off-campus conduct cases, as assigned. Review and resolve student conduct appeals in collaboration with the Assistant Director for Residential Experience and appropriate Student Life administrators. Partner with Assistant Deans regarding complex student cases, behavioral intervention efforts, conduct appeals, and implementation of institutional policies. Train and support professional staff serving as conduct officers and promote restorative and developmental approaches that foster accountability and learning. Serve as co-chair of the College's CARE Team and provide collaborative leadership in case consultation, coordinated interventions, and resource referrals. Participate in crisis management, emergency response, and coordinated student support efforts. Serve as a member of the Student Life Leadership Team and contribute to divisional assessment initiatives, retention efforts, and strategic priorities. Represent Housing and Residential Education and Student Life at orientation programs, admissions events, family programs, and other campus initiatives. Assist with annual crime statistics, Clery reporting responsibilities, and related risk management initiatives. Develop and manage departmental budgets and contribute to planning efforts that support enrollment and retention goals. Develop, manage, and monitor departmental operating budgets and resources to ensure fiscal responsibility, effective stewardship, and alignment with enrollment, retention, and divisional priorities. Analyze budget trends, assess resource needs, and make recommendations that support departmental effectiveness and the residential student experience. Foster a culture of learning, belonging, collaboration, accountability, innovation, and professional growth of staff and student employees that advances the Division of Student Life's priorities. Perform other duties as assigned. OTHER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Support the College's mission, vision and values, and contribute to the advancement of the College's Strategic Plan. Education/Training: Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Student Affairs Administration, Counseling, or a related field required. Experience: A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in housing, residential education, student conduct, or student affairs administration within higher education required. Eight years of progressively responsible experience is preferred. Demonstrated experience supervising professional staff, leading residential operations, managing departmental budgets and resources, administering student conduct processes, managing complex student situations, and utilizing student information systems and technology platforms is required. Experience with housing management systems and case management platforms, including ErezLife and Maxient, is strongly preferred. Experience serving on behavioral intervention teams, participating in crisis response efforts, and utilizing assessment practices to inform decision making is strongly preferred. Experience at a residential liberal arts institution with a substantial residential population is strongly preferred. Position Summary: The Senior Director of Housing and Residential Education provides leadership for the College's residential experience, including residential education, housing operations, residential conduct administration, crisis response, and student support initiatives. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Student Life and Strategic Initiatives and serving as a member of the Student Life Leadership Team, the Senior Director collaborates with campus partners to foster safe, inclusive, and educationally purposeful communities that support learning, well-being, belonging, and persistence.
