Senior English Laboratory Instructor
Alabama State University, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, invites applications for a Senior English Laboratory Instructor. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining the Writing Center and assisting in the Student Success Labs, by providing writing and academic support to students. The Senior English Laboratory Instructor will support academic success by working with students individually or in groups to improve academic knowledge and writing skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work cooperatively with other Writing Center staff and administrators to provide academic support for students
- Provide individual and group tutoring assistance to students, including, but not limited to, study skills, college success strategies, and writing and reading support
- Implement strategies for academic support in curriculum courses that require writing
- Organize and distribute materials to support the writing curriculum; collaborate with faculty and staff to develop tutorial support and programing that will promote successful outcomes for the students in curriculum courses
- Plan, design, and conduct workshop and programming to provide additional support for curriculum courses for students
- Train new tutors, conduct workshops and record keeping
Master's degree in English, Education or related field, and 1 year teaching or tutoring writing and study skills in a secondary or post-secondary environment, knowledgeable of writing strategies for essays and research papers at the undergraduate and graduate level, expertise in helping students with basic writing skills, proficient in teaching Writing/English courses at the undergraduate level required.
