Boston University Information Services & Technology (IS&T) is seeking applicants with diverse skills and experiences to join our innovative and inclusive community. You will join as a Senior Enrollment Analytics Developer where you will deliver statistical models that support the University's strategic enrollment and financial aid goals. You will also provide forecasting of student enrollment and reports that help senior leadership to monitor admissions trends. As part of the Analytical Services and Institutional Research (AS&IR) Team, you will report to the Assistant Director of Analytical Services and work with a variety of senior leadership, departmental clients, and technical staff. This position is remote-local, with a preference for applicants who can come into the office at least 1-2 days a week.
You Will:
- Create statistical models for admissions-related tasks like forecasting enrollment and financial aid expenditures.
- Inform strategic decision-making and support projects such as recruitment and financial aid budgeting.
- Monitor current automated reports for accuracy, reliability, and opportunities to improve our data systems.
- Query, extract, and transform data from multiple systems to build datasets for analysis.
- Document workflows, models, and reporting resources for transparency and reproducibility.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to knowledge-sharing within the team.
- Provide guidance and recommendations to senior leadership in important enrollment planning conversations.
- Contribute to the implementation of data governance policies and best practices.
Required Skills
You Will Have:
- Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, computer science, applied mathematics, or related field.
- 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in data analytics, data science, or institutional research.
- Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL for data cleaning, modeling, and analysis.
- Practical experience with applied statistical techniques including regression analysis, significance testing, descriptive statistics, and a variety of modeling approaches (e.g., random forests, component analysis, etc).
- Experience translating technical findings into clear language for non-technical audiences.

- Experience in an R1 university or similarly complex academic institution.
- Familiarity with higher education data systems (SIS, HRIS, LMS) and national datasets (IPEDS, NSF HERD, CDS).
- Experience with trends and concepts in enrollment management, financial aid strategy and associated issues in higher education.
