Senior Executive, Communications (2-year contract)
Job Description
We are seeking a proactive, high-performing Senior Executive, Communications to help strengthen the School’s reputation as a leading global medical school for Asia. Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will plan and deliver high-impact internal and external communications initiatives, with a strong focus on media relations, strategic storytelling, and stakeholder engagement.
Key responsibilities
- Media relations
- Drive media initiatives to raise the School’s profile and thought leadership in medical education and biomedical research.
- Manage press publicity needs for over 40 departments, Translational Research Programmes (TRPs), and research centres.
- Develop key messages, press releases, interview talking points, fact sheets, website articles, and related materials.
- Pitch stories, organise media briefings, facilitate interviews, and manage filming requests.
- Monitor, track, and compile media coverage.
- Internal communications
- Support editorial planning and development of content for weekly Medspresso and sister platforms (Medfocus, Medspecials).
- Assist in planning and delivering the annual Strategic Directions Dialogue for staff.
- Partner stakeholders to craft and disseminate internal announcements and campaigns.
- Maintain and update the NUS Medicine Intranet home page.
- Publications and editorial
- Assist in the editorial, production, and dissemination of MediCine, the School’s quarterly 58-page news magazine (print and digital).
- Manage content upload and maintenance of the accompanying microsite.
- Support editorial and production of the School’s Yearbook.
- Corporate communications support
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors/agencies to deliver communications initiatives.
- Provide procurement and administrative support for the department as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, English Literature, Arts, Journalism, Visual Communications, Marketing or a related field.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in corporate communications, journalism, or marketing.
- Proven track record across media relations/publicity, digital and internal communications, and publications.
- Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal and project management skills; able to partner effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Sound judgment, diplomacy, and the ability to respond quickly and accurately to time-sensitive issues.
- An eye for aesthetics and proficiency working across visual mediums (EDMs, photo, video, web, and print).
- Adept at stakeholder relationship-building with internal partners, government and community stakeholders, and media.
