About Us
The NUS Computing Gallery is a heritage exhibit located at the NUS School of Computing which showcases a visual display of computing artefacts and information on important IT milestones, as well as the history of computing education in Singapore. The narratives, collections and displays will take visitors on an educational journey as they learn more about the evolution and advancement of technology, its impact on daily lives, as well as how IT has transformed Singapore
The Gallery is looking for a dedicated Computing Champion, who will be integral in executing overall strategies in marketing communications as well as outreach efforts and activities to build awareness and raise its profile. He or she will also assist in the daily operations and administrative tasks as required by the Director of the Gallery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Museum Operations and Staff Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the museum to ensure an efficient and welcoming environment for all visitors.
- Collate visitor numbers.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and roster museum guides.
- Ensure exhibits are well maintained.
- Respond to inquiries and feedback.
- Maintain the Gallery website
2. Educational and Public Engagement
- Plan, coordinate, and manage school visits and public educational programmes. This will involve working with the SOC Outreach team.
- Develop educational materials for teaching IT concepts to the general public.
- Engage student clubs to utilise Gallery space for events and talks
3. Donor and Collection Liaison
- Assist the Director to manage donor relationships and ensure proper documentation and display of contributions.
- Support the curation, presentation, and preservation of existing and new exhibits. (Research will be done by a professional historian)
4. Merchandise and Revenue Management
- Source for merchandise aligned with the Gallery’s theme and manage their sale.
Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant working experience in a customer-oriented or people-facing role.
- Prior experience in museums, galleries, or educational institutions will be an advantage.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic digital tools.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Social Sciences or Communications Studies.
