  • Remuneration: $158,080 to $165,606 pa (HEW9) (inclusive of $133,579 to $139,939 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Senior Finance Business Partner to join Finance Business Solutions, Chancellery Division.

The Senior Finance Business Partner is a strategic leadership role responsible for delivering high-level financial advice, driving performance, and enabling value creation across QUT. The position leads financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis across multiple portfolios, with a particular focus on the University’s two major capital programs—Digital and Physical Infrastructure. It also consolidates the financial position of the Administrative Division and provides strategic insights to support decision-making. This role partners closely with client leaders to manage budgets, embed financial controls, and ensure robust financial governance. It leads two Project Accountants, supports the development of business cases and financial models, and contributes to service improvements through the use of AI and digital tools. The Senior Finance Business Partner plays a key role in governance groups, ensures compliance with financial policies and risk management practices, and fosters team capability aligned with evolving service delivery needs.

What you need to succeed

  1. Education, training and/or experience equivalent to the completion of postgraduate qualifications in finance or a related business discipline or progress towards postgraduate qualifications or extensive relevant experience, along with ongoing professional development equivalent to CPA or Chartered Accountant.
  2. Extensive experience in leading financial planning, budgeting, analysis and business partnering in complex environments, with a focus on strategic decision-making and value creation.
  3. Proven ability to manage financial governance and reporting for large-scale capital programs, including digital and physical infrastructure initiatives.
  4. Experience in identifying and implementing financial service improvements, including the use of AI and digital innovations to automate processes, enhance data-driven decision-making, and improve client outcomes.
  5. High-level analytical and diagnostic skills, including proficiency in financial modelling, cost analysis, and performance reporting tools such as Excel, Oracle, Power BI.
  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships, influence stakeholders, and deliver tailored financial advice across diverse client groups.
  7. Demonstrate capability in mentoring and leading finance professionals, fostering team performance, and aligning capability development with evolving service delivery needs.
  8. Demonstrated understanding of financial policies, risk management practices, and governance frameworks, with a commitment to continuous improvement and ethical leadership.
