About the Facility
The Flow Cytometry Facility is located in central Cambridge on Tennis Court Road and comprises three dedicated laboratory spaces. The facility is equipped with a broad range of state-of-the-art instrumentation, including:
- Five analysers: two Cytek Aurora spectral cytometers, Thermo Fisher Attune NxT, Beckman Coulter CytoFLEX LX, and CytoFLEX S
- Two cell sorters: Waters Biosciences FACSDiscover S8 and FACSAria
The FACSDiscover S8 is a cutting-edge, imaging-enabled spectral cell sorter, the first of its kind, combining full spectral flow cytometry with real-time spatial and morphological insights, enabling powerful new approaches to cell analysis and sorting.
The facility supports a wide user base across Cambridge, including researchers from Pathology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Physiology, Development and Neuroscience, Chemistry, Plant Sciences, and the Gurdon Institute.
The Role
The postholder will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the facility, supporting researchers in delivering high-quality experiments and ensuring all instruments operate reliably and efficiently.
Prior experience with both analysers and cell sorters is desirable; however, full training will be provided both in-house and externally for the right candidate.
What We Offer
- The opportunity to work closely with world-leading scientists across a wide range of disciplines
- Hands-on experience with advanced flow cytometry and cell sorting technologies
- A collaborative and evolving facility environment with scope to contribute to its growth and development
