Senior Infrastructure Engineer
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer serves as a key contributor in the planning, design, construction, renovation, and delivery of infrastructure across UCSF facilities. This role oversees the build-out, expansion, repair, and modernization of Infrastructure services to support the university's academic, medical, and research missions.
Working in close coordination with UCSF departments, project managers, design consultants, vendors, and internal ITS teams, the Senior Infrastructure Engineer provides technical direction and construction oversight for all phases of infrastructure deployment--including low-voltage systems, copper and fiber cabling, endpoint, telephony, DaaS and health care modality installations. The role ensures infrastructure components are integrated into building renovation and new construction projects in alignment with UCSF IT design standards and long-term infrastructure strategies.
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer manages and inspects the installation, upgrade, and repair of both inside-plant and outside-plant communication systems, ensuring compliance with construction drawings, specifications, and code requirements. Responsibilities include coordinating field activities, reviewing as-built documentation, conducting site walks, resolving construction conflicts, and ensuring high-quality installation and service delivery.
Through proactive engagement and technical expertise, the Senior Infrastructure Engineer ensures UCSF's IT infrastructure continues to evolve, scale, and perform to meet the demands of the Health, Education, Research, and Business enterprises.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors, including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The annual salary range for this position is $113,800 - $242,800. Note: Certain terms and conditions of employment for this position, including the rate of pay, benefits, etc., are currently subject to negotiation with the appropriate union.
