About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and highly-motivated individual to work as a Senior Laboratory and Safety Manager across both the Department of Immunology and Inflammation (DoII) and the Department of Brain Sciences (DoBS) within the Faculty of Medicine. This position is a crucial role within both DoII and DoBS, responsible for managing two teams of Laboratory Managers and Facilities Managers, and taking overall responsibility for Health and Safety, space, and provision of specialist laboratory facilities across each of the Departments.
What you would be doing:
A key focus of the role is health and safety management and implementation. You will work closely with the Faculty Safety Advisors and Laboratory Managers and Facilities Managers to ensure compliance with all University policies and procedures. The role also encompasses oversight of business continuity planning, significant equipment purchases, management of refurbishment projects, and relocation of research groups.
You will be expected to take a leading role in the planning and administration of Department space in conjunction with the relevant Head of Department and Director of Operations. Additionally, the role includes significant relationship management, with academic and research staff across the two Departments, with PTO staff, and with Faculty and University-wide departments.
You will form a key part of the two Departments’ management teams and advise them on all issues related to Health and Safety, and space.
