Department description

The School of Economics and Finance (SEF) is one of six schools in the Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Brief description

SEF invites applications for the above position in order to fill vacancies in the Finance Division of SEF.

Detailed description

Applicants in the field of specialization in Investments, Corporate Finance or Financial Data Science are encouraged to apply. Individuals from previously disadvantaged population groups are encouraged to apply.

Job requirements

Requirements:

The successful applicant will be expected to actively participate in the following:

• Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Investments, Corporate Finance and/or Financial Data Science

• Research

• Supervision of postgraduate students

• Administration and academic citizenship activities

Minimum qualifications:

Applicants for the position of Senior Lecturer should meet the following qualification requirements:

• PhD degree in the field of Finance, or a combination of a Master’s degree in the field of Finance and a CFA

• A track record of research consistent with appointment at the Senior Lecturer level

• Evidence of data analytical skills

• Evidence of successful teaching and supervision of postgraduate students

• Contribution to administration and academic citizenship activities
