About the Role
We are seeking an experienced teaching and research academic specialising in Aviation management and technology to join our Department of Aviation within the School of Engineering.
As the Senior Lecturer, you will conduct research and teaching in aviation and related fields while contributing to professional activities within the Aviation Department. You will play a key role in curriculum development, educational innovation, and outreach, including building and maintaining strong relationships with local schools, industry and professional associations. Your teaching responsibilities will include, delivery and support of academic programs, and the management of associated teaching and learning administration. In research, you will play a key role in advancing knowledge and enhancing the Department's research excellence and impact with an emphasis on industry-relevant or education-focused research that supports the Department’s teaching quality and strategic priorities.
In this role, you will also actively participate in the Department's management and administration, mentor and support students in academic matters, and supervise undergraduate, Master’s and PhD students. You will be expected to participate in activities that foster and build further on existing links with government, business, communities and professions in Australia and internationally.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Demonstrated track record in aviation education, particularly in airworthiness management, aircraft maintenance and aviation regulation.
- Relevant industry experience in the Aviation sector, such as working with manufacturers, operators, or regulatory bodies, with a proven ability to apply technical expertise to real-world challenges in airworthiness and maintenance management.
- Demonstrated evidence of self-directed research ability and ability.
- Demonstrated ability, or potential, and/or involvement in research through collaborations with other universities, industry and/or government.
- Demonstrated expertise in the designated research discipline, with ability to carry out research projects, both independently and within a broader team is preferred.
- Ability, or potential, to attract and manage competitive research grants is preferred.
Qualifications
- PhD in Aviation or an Aviation-related topic in another discipline.
