Expected skills:
Applicants must show a strong interest in teaching as well as a high-level scientific record in accordance with UGA’s ambitions. They must identify with UGA’s values, that is, being open to the world, emphasising ethics and scientific integrity, showing an interest in teamwork and being committed to the community. They should also have a sense of responsibility, in particular with regard to environmental and social issues.
Context and educational objectives:
Educational expectations
- The successful candidate will teach Francophone Studies for the Bachelor of Literature programme, such as the "Overview of Francophone Literatures" lecture course and the "Francophone Studies and Postcolonial Debates" course.
- The Master's program offers a specialised seminar titled "Francophone Literature"; depending on teaching needs, the successful candidate may also teach the "Interculturalities” course.
- The successful candidate may be in charge of courses preparing for teaching exams, CAPES (French-language teaching certificates), and agrégation (French-language teaching certification).
- The successful candidate will primarily teach on the Grenoble campus, but may also teach on the Valence campus.
- They will also supervise Master's theses—many Master’s students want to specialise in Francophone literature.
Research project and scientific impact:
Scientific profile
- The position profile is open in terms of genre (prose, poetry, theater, but also oral traditions), periodization, and geographic area (African, Oceanic, American, Caribbean, as well as Asian Francophonies). The successful candidate must possess extensive knowledge of the Francophone field in its cultural diversity, as well as postcolonial approaches and their effects on the global literary scene. The candidate will pay particular attention to intercultural phenomena. Proficiency in languages other than French is an asset.
- As their research focuses on the circulation of languages and literatures, the successful applicant will participate in the project "Translation, Reception, and Transmission of Literary Texts" (axe 2). They will also be involved in the activities of the research group É.CRI.RE.
- The successful candidate will contribute to the international attractiveness of the research center (Litt&Arts), which regularly hosts visiting professors, research interns, writers and speakers. They can also be involved in the activities of the MACI (Maison de la Création et de l’Innovation).
