About the opportunity:

UC’s Faculty of Education is seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Lecturer (Level C - ER) or Lecturer (Level B - ER or EF) in Early Childhood Education (birth to five and/or birth to twelve). Drawing on extensive experience in early learning environments, the appointee will bring practical insight and pedagogical expertise to enrich curriculum development, foster student engagement, and strengthen the Faculty’s connection to contemporary educational practice. The successful candidate will contribute to the leadership of our academic programs, deliver high-quality teaching, and engage in impactful scholarship, research (for ER focused consideration), and professional activities.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide high quality teaching and support to Early Childhood Education students across face-to-face, online, and blended learning modes.
  • Contribute to the design, delivery, and evaluation of innovative Early Childhood Education programs
  • Foster strong connections with the early childhood sector, including professional associations and community partners.
  • Supervise doctoral and research masters students.

For Education and Research (ER) focused interest:

  • Lead research projects aligned with Faculty priorities, secure research funding, and publish in high-impact journals.
  • Make significant and original scholarly and/or professional contributions recognised at the national level.
  • Lead unit convenorship and contribute to the scholarly design and revision of courses and units.

Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you will have the following:

  • A doctoral degree (EdD or PhD) in a relevant field. (UC may consider PHD near completion)
  • Recognised teaching qualifications.
  • Experience in applying scholarly literature to educational practice (for ER consideration).
  • Proven excellence in teaching, student support and curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Ability to secure and manage research grants (for Education and Research Academic appointments).
  • Substantial experience as an Early Childhood teacher (from birth to 5 years old).
  • A collaborative spirit and commitment to educational equity and innovation.
