Senior Lecturer in Mathematics
The Role
The University of Bristol School of Mathematics is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (analogous to Assistant Professor), Senior Lecturer, or Associate Professor in Quantum Computing Theory, the level of appointment depending on the experience of the successful candidate.
We are looking for a world-class researcher in any area in the theory of quantum computing. We interpret this area broadly, and to include for example, but not limited to:
- Quantum complexity theory
- Quantum algorithms
- The underpinning mathematics of quantum computation
- Quantum computing interfacing with neighbouring disciplines
What Will You Be Doing?
The post-holder will be responsible for their own research programme, undertaking independent research.
The post-holder will also:
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Take on appropriate administrative duties
The post will be integrated within the interdepartmental Quantum Information Theory Group, one of the world’s leading groups in quantum information theory.

- Organisational skills required to carry out a successful research programme
You ideally have:
- A proven publication record in internationally recognised, peer-reviewed scientific journals
