"Senior Lecturer in Microbial Genomics and Bioinformatics"

The School of Medicine and Biosciences, specifically the Centre for Innovation in Genomics and Microbiome Sciences (CIGMiS), undertakes research in microbiome science.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Lecturer with expertise in Microbial (meta)genomics and Bioinformatics. The successful candidate will bring a strong academic background and a commitment to developing and delivering an innovative postgraduate programme and short courses, particularly in computational genomics, metagenomics, and bioinformatics. They will also support the New Genomics Services at CIGMiS.

The majority of academic staff will undertake a balance of research and teaching, discussed during annual appraisal in line with operational needs and individual career goals.

Essential criteria include:

• A PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., microbiology, genomics, bioinformatics)
• Proven experience in teaching and postgraduate programme development
• A track record of research in microbiome science, metagenomics, whole genome sequencing, big data analysis, machine learning, and AI
