Senior Lecturer in Paramedic Science

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.

The School of Nursing, Public and Allied Health lies within the Faculty of Health, Information, Technology and Science. It brings together disciplines from across the spectrum of health and social care, from high-level, wide-reaching policy perspectives through to those professions delivering personalised care. Our specialist areas include Paramedic Science, Midwifery, Nursing, Advanced Clinical Practice, Environmental Health, Local and International Public Health and Social Work.

Our Paramedic Science programme is a key and developing area within Liverpool John Moores University, preparing graduates to work confidently and compassionately in complex and dynamic healthcare environments. The programme is underpinned by a strong commitment to evidence-based practice, research-informed teaching and close collaboration with regional ambulance services and healthcare partners. Through innovative teaching approaches, simulation-based learning and extensive clinical placement opportunities, we aim to equip students with the knowledge, skills and professional values required to deliver safe, effective and person-centred care across diverse healthcare settings.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed individual to the position of Senior Lecturer in Paramedic Science to join our Paramedic Science team. You will lead on and deliver a range of high-quality teaching materials and associated student assessment activities, as well as making a significant contribution to the planning, design and development of modules, programmes and curriculum innovation. You will also engage in high-quality research and relevant professional and knowledge exchange activities as part of the School of Nursing, Public and Allied Health’s continued development.

You must be a registered Paramedic with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), educated to Masters level (or currently studying towards one) and have significant experience within paramedic practice, including experience of supervising, mentoring or supporting pre-registration paramedic students or trainees.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the School of Nursing, Public & Allied Health for an interview which will also include a 20-minute presentation to a small group of undergraduate students and staff, and a tour of the department.

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction and development support, as well as family-friendly policies.

This is an exciting time to join the university as we deliver the LJMU Strategy 2030 and its vision of LJMU as an inclusive civic university transforming lives and futures by placing students at the heart of everything we do.

If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you.

Informal enquiries may be made to Jason Comber, Interim Principal Lecturer and Programme Lead, Paramedic Science, by email: d.j.comber@ljmu.ac.uk
