Position Summary
The Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) cluster at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) invites applications for a full-time, teaching-track faculty position in Philosophy. Appointments will be made on an initial three-year contract, renewable subject to performance review.
We are seeking an analytic philosopher with demonstrated expertise in epistemology, ethics, and/or the philosophy of action, and with a research interest in the philosophical dimensions of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and related technologies.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Teach in the undergraduate humanities core curriculum and design elective courses in their area of specialization.
- Contribute to the development of new interdisciplinary degree programs.
- Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly relating to Design and AI, with colleagues across engineering, architecture, computer science, and design.
- Mentor students, including those undertaking capstone projects that integrate humanistic inquiry with technological innovation.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Philosophy (or a closely related field) at the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated excellence in university-level teaching.
- Evidence of creativity and potential to develop new directions in interdisciplinary teaching and learning.
- Interest in collaborating with scientists, engineers, technologists, and designers.
- Experience in digital humanities or in fostering academic–industry or public sector collaborations is an advantage.
