Do you enjoy working with young people, are you curious and keen to share your knowledge? As a Senior Lecturer, you will play a key role in the education of students. Together with a dedicated team of teaching staff, you will make a significant contribution to the students’ success. In addition to providing a sound academic education, we place particular emphasis on motivating our students. We want to support young people in developing a curious and critical mindset, thereby laying a solid foundation for future professional challenges.

Your workplace:

As a Senior Lecturer, you will be involved in the area of training science and performance assessment methods within the Department of Sport and Human Movement Science. This involves delivering instructional teaching, particularly in all areas of performance assessment methods for both health-oriented and competitive sports (endurance and flexibility, as well as strength, speed and coordination). Teaching should convey the close link between scientifically sound theoretical principles and practical applications.

In addition, teaching duties may also cover other areas of exercise science and include contributions to the subject of Physical Education and Sport.

The working hours amount to 27 hours per week and include a teaching commitment of an average of 16 contract hours per week per Semester.

Your future tasks:

• As a Senior Lecturer, you will be involved in teaching and supervising students in the Department of Sport and Human Movement Science, as well as in the subject of Physical Education and Sport at Bachelor’s and Master’s level.
• Your core responsibilities will include delivering teaching and supervision sessions in the field of training science and performance assessment methods.
• We expect (further) development of teaching and learning content in modern formats.
• We expect you to keep abreast of the current state of the art in the field and to undertake further professional development in teaching methodology during periods when you are not teaching.
• In addition, the role involves administrative duties, particularly in the administration and organisation of teaching.

What we expect:

• A completed Master’s or Diploma degree in Sports and Exercise Science or a teaching qualification in Physical Education
• Specialist training in performance diagnostics
• Several years’ experience of independent teaching at a post-secondary educational institution
• Previous teaching experience at secondary levels I and II would be an advantage
• Enthusiasm for imparting knowledge and for university teaching
• Interest in the use of digital teaching formats
• Very good command of English
