Collaborating with the ARM-Hub and industry partners like Veolia and SMEC, we bridge academic and practical expertise. UniSC ranks above the national average for student experience, with 86% of our engineering graduates securing full-time employment (QILT Survey 2021). We are expanding programs, including new offerings at our Moreton Bay Campus, and exploring postgraduate qualifications to meet future needs.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Lecturer (Level C) in Machine Learning to join the Technology Discipline. In this role, you will deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, applying contemporary pedagogical approaches to enhance student engagement and employability. You will also contribute to curriculum development and assessment design, ensuring that graduates are equipped with the skills to excel in AI, machine learning, and applied digital technologies.
In addition, you will build a strong research profile through publications, grant applications, and supervision of Honours and HDR students. You will engage with industry partners, professional communities, and the wider University to foster collaborative projects, advance digital innovation, and contribute to the strategic development and governance of the School.

You will:
- deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs in machine learning, AI, and related areas;
- build your research profile through publications, grant applications, supervision of Honours and HDR students, and collaboration with industry or professional communities;
- engage with industry, community, and university stakeholders to develop partnerships, enhance student experiences, and contribute to impactful digital transformation initiatives; and
- contribute to the strategic development, governance, and service activities of the School and Discipline.
About you:
You are an experienced academic or professional in machine learning or AI with a passion for student-centred teaching and applied research. You excel in delivering engaging learning experiences, supervising research students, and building strong industry partnerships. You are collaborative, innovative, and committed to advancing both the discipline and UniSC’s strategic objectives.
You will possess:
- Completion or near-completion of a doctoral qualification in machine learning, AI, or a closely related field;
- Proven record of high-quality teaching in machine learning, AI, or digital technologies, including curriculum development and student engagement;
- Established track record in research, publications, and HDR supervision;
- Experience engaging with industry or professional communities, and contributing to academic governance; and
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
Desirable
- Experience in academic leadership or program coordination within a university.
- Strong connections with industry partners, professional bodies, or research networks.
