Educational expectations
The School of Arts and Humanities – UFR ARSH – includes five Departments of History, Art History and Archaeology, Musicology and Philosophy, Social Geography and an English Office, which offer five bachelor’s degrees (in History, Art History and Archaeology, Musicology, Philosophy and Applied Humanities) and three master's degrees (in History, Art History and Archaeology, and Philosophy). UFR ARSH is part of the Faculty of Humanities, Health, Sport and Societies, which comprises eight departments with which it maintains educational links and develops joint projects.
The successful candidate will teach in the History Department at all undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as on secondary school teacher training courses (preparation for the CAPES and Agrégation competitive examinations, Master’s in Teaching, Education and Training [master MEEF/EE : enseignement et education]). The successful candidate may also teach on the Bachelor’s in Applied Human Sciences (Licence Sciences humaines appliquées) course. The bachelor’s and master's degrees in history offered by UFR ARSH involve double degrees (double Bachelor’s degree in History-Classical Literature, Franco-Italian international master's degree, double degree in partnership with Grenoble Ecole de Management), in which the successful candidate will be required to participate. The candidate will mainly teach the economic, social and political history of the early and central Middle Ages (5th-13th centuries). Teaching experience or a teaching project in one of the following specialities would be appreciated: digital humanities, palaeography, archaeology. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in ongoing educational projects and to respond to calls for projects from UFR ARSH, the H3S faculty or UGA in the field of education. Their educational projects will be expected to integrate and develop links with local, national or international cultural institutions into their teaching.

Scientific profile
The candidate will join the équipe d’accueil no. 7421 and contribute to its activities in areas of history that are still under-represented. They will be required to work on the economic, social and political structures of southern Europe in the early and central Middle Ages. The research they will develop will be in line with the themes of at least one of LUHCIE’s (Laboratoire Universitaire Histoire Cultures Italie Europe) research areas and will contribute to strengthening its international appeal.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will be able to develop cross-disciplinary collaborations within the laboratory and in line with the objectives set by UGA. They will be involved in coordinating national and international projects and will play a leading role in securing new funding. Skills in the field of digital humanities would be appreciated.
