Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor (Veterinary Pathology)

Your opportunity

Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Science and Engineering is seeking a Veterinary Pathologist to play a key role in shaping the next generation of veterinary professionals.

This academic opportunity will contribute to the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVetMed) and Bachelor of Veterinary Technology (BVetTech) programs, with a strong focus on building and delivering foundational and systems-based pathology, its integration into clinical learning, and aligned to Day 1 Competency development.

You will lead or contribute to the development of contemporary, clinically relevant, and student-centred teaching in veterinary pathology, embedding case-based and experiential learning approaches that prepare graduates for real-world practice.

Depending on your experience and track record, appointment may be made at Senior Lecturer (Level C) or Associate Professor (Level D) level. This role also offers flexibility, including part-time or job-share arrangements.

You will also contribute to the growth of a modern veterinary program through research, scholarship of teaching, and meaningful engagement with industry, diagnostic laboratories, and professional partners.

You will make an impact by:

  • Designing and delivering engaging, clinically relevant pathology teaching
  • Leading or contributing to curriculum development and innovation
  • Embedding case-based, practical and Work Integrated Learning experiences
  • Developing high quality, authentic assessment and feedback practices
  • Building strong partnerships with industry and diagnostic laboratories

What you will bring

You are a passionate and contemporary veterinary professional with expertise in pathology and a strong commitment to student learning and professional practice. You bring a collaborative mindset, value innovation in teaching, and are motivated to help build a new and impactful veterinary program.

You are equally comfortable contributing to curriculum design, engaging with industry, and supporting student success, while also developing or maintaining a research and scholarship profile aligned to your level of appointment.

To succeed in this role, you will also need:

  • A veterinary degree registrable in Australia
  • Expertise in veterinary pathology and diagnostic practice
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, or supervising in clinical settings
  • Ability to design engaging, student centred learning experiences
  • Willingness to work in lab and field environments as required

Your opportunity is:

  • Full-time, continuing (permanent)
  • Located at Lismore, NSW 2480. Relocation assistance is available, making it easier to join our regional communities.
  • Academic Level C: $139,568 - $160,473 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $158,408.
  • Academic Level D: $167,446 - $184,176 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $187,753.
