Expected skills:
Applicants must show a strong interest in teaching as well as a high-level scientific record in accordance with UGA’s ambitions. They must identify with UGA’s values, that is, being open to the world, emphasizing ethics and scientific integrity, showing an interest in teamwork and being committed to the community. They should also have a sense of responsibility, in particular with regard to environmental and social issues.
Context and educational objectives:
The position aims primarily to strengthen teaching within the Master’s program in Information and Communication, particularly in the tracks Public Communication and Media and Corporate Communication (the latter offered in both full-time and work-study formats). The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the Bachelor’s program in Information and Communication, ensuring coherence and pedagogical continuity between the undergraduate and graduate levels.
In terms of teaching, candidates are expected to have experience in subjects addressing the practices and challenges of communication within public and private organizations, including corporations, institutions, and public bodies. The courses will address, in particular:
- Communication practices within organizations, both internal and external, across the private, public, and non-profit sectors, particularly at the territorial level,
- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policies and approaches to responsible communication and inclusivity strategies,
- Relations with the media and the role of press relations within organizational communication strategies.
Particular attention will be given to training students in the participatory and civic dimensions of organizational life, with a focus on issues of inclusivity, diversity, and ecological transition.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of students’ professional skills and critical thinking, and will actively participate in supervising projects, internships, and dissertations. They will also be involved in innovative teaching initiatives, particularly those linked to research and to collaborations with professional practitioners engaged in project-based learning.
Research project and scientific impact:
The future Assistant Professor (Maître de conférences) will join the GRESEC laboratory, within preferably Axis 2 (“Communication, Media and Social Fields”) and/or Axis 3 (“Transforming Info-Communication Devices”).
Their research will fall within the broad field of organizational and institutional communication—encompassing public, private, and semi-public actors—and will focus on contemporary forms of publicization, debate, and mediatization of societal issues. The objective will be to analyze how these actors produce specialized content (institutional discourse, crisis communication, social and digital mobilizations, CSR campaigns) and contribute to the construction of public issues and the shaping of the public agenda.
Ongoing projects (such as PEPR Origins, DEMOCIS, and initiatives related to public health), as well as ANR projects under submission, will provide opportunities for the successful candidate to develop their research and integrate within GRESEC’s activities.
The position aims to strengthen research on the transformations of communication practices in a context characterized by digitalization, corporate social responsibility (CSR), ecological and social transitions, and growing demands for inclusivity and transparency. The successful candidate should be able to conduct research on how information and communication systems contribute to the visibility of institutional and organizational actors, the circulation of controversies, and the structuring of the public sphere, in close connection with communication practices within organizations.
The successful candidate will actively contribute to collective projects within the laboratory, to its interdisciplinary research dynamics, and to the development of institutional and regional partnerships, particularly those addressing the public issues targeted by the position.
