The Senior Lecturer (Orthodontics) is recognised as influential at a national level within the discipline and makes a significant contribution to research, education and administrative activities within the School and Faculty. The role supports the continued development of Orthodontics at Sydney Dental School through leadership in teaching, research, supervision and engagement.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- build and maintain a reputation for academic excellence through independent and innovative contributions to research and education in Orthodontics
- establish collaborations and partnerships to enhance the research profile and reputation of the University
- coordinate and deliver high-quality teaching and learning activities in line with University standards, including supervision of higher degree research students to successful completion
- coordinate, develop and continually improve curricula, programs and learning resources to enhance educational outcomes
- coordinate activities of academic staff and provide training and mentorship to less experienced lecturers
- provide leadership with significant impact on teaching innovation, curriculum development, research training and supervision within the School or Faculty
- assist the biostatistician and other research staff with data management and quantitative analyses within the secure Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) DataLab
- contribute to reports and publications under the supervision of the Chief Investigator, Biostatistician and other investigators
- manage administrative and support tasks as required
- contribute to a positive workplace culture that values diversity of thought, collaboration, excellence and achievement
- understand and contribute to advancing the strategic agenda of the University and Faculty/School
- engage in community, professional and alumni outreach, contributing expertise to scholarly, research and professional activities
- establish partnerships and engage in translational research to achieve impactful outcomes in research, development, commercialisation and policy improvement
- undertake other duties and contribute to projects appropriate to the classification level as required.
About you
- postgraduate qualification in Orthodontics
- mandatory experience teaching Orthodontics at postgraduate level
- a minimum of five years' substantial teaching experience in Orthodontics, particularly within postgraduate dental education
- current full AHPRA dental and specialist orthodontics registration in Australia
- an established academic with recognised standing in Orthodontics and evidence of national-level contribution to the discipline
- demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum development and supervision of higher degree research students
- a developing or established research profile with experience contributing to publications, reports and collaborative research initiatives
- experience supporting quantitative research activities, including working with research teams and secure data environments
- proven leadership capability, including mentoring and supporting less experienced academic staff
- strong alignment with the University's strategic objectives and commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive and high-performing academic culture.
