Expected skills:
Applicants must show a strong interest in teaching as well as a high-level scientific record in accordance with UGA’s ambitions. They must identify with UGA’s values, that is, being open to the world, emphasising ethics and scientific integrity, showing an interest in teamwork and being committed to the community. They should also have a sense of responsibility, in particular with regard to environmental and social issues.
Context and educational objectives:
Pharmaceutical technology is a fundamental and essential discipline that is covered throughout pharmacy studies, and applies across various professional courses (community pharmacy, industrial pharmacy, research and hospital pharmacy). Formulation is also taught to students enrolled in other initial or work-study training programmes such as Professional Bachelor's and Master's degrees in health, involving the active participation of pharmaceutical technology teachers in these programmes. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching activities—practical sessions (TP), tutorials (TD), and lectures (CM)—in pharmaceutical formulation and biopharmacy within the common basic education in pharmacy as well as specialised courses particularly in the context of industry/research and community pharmacy tracks.
As such, strong knowledge in the formulation and physico-chemical characterisation of pharmaceutical dosage forms is expected, along with familiarity with innovative drug delivery systems (e.g., nano/micro-objects, implants), manufacturing processes, and biopharmacy. In addition, knowledge of concepts related to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for health products and the Quality by Design (QbD) approach would be an asset.
The successful candidate will also be involved in supervising students, including mentoring interns or work-study students in professional bachelor’s programmes and throughout the three cycles of pharmacy education.
Finally, the successful candidate should be capable of assuming responsibility for existing course units in the short term and actively participating in the development of new educational content, in collaboration with the teaching team, to meet evolving educational needs (in light of ongoing reforms).
Research project and scientific impact:
The research conducted within the NOVA team (Département de Pharmacochimie Moléculaire, UMR 5063) focuses on the design and optimisation of innovative drug delivery systems, opening up new perspectives to enhance the efficacy of conventional treatments while reducing their side effects. The research is also interested in developing diagnostic tools in medical biology. The project lies in the field of targeted administration of active substances or imaging agents, within a theranostic approach.
The recruited researcher will be responsible for developing particulate carriers and/or biocompatible biomaterials, whose performance may be further improved through the incorporation of specific recognition elements (antibodies, aptamers, etc.) for targeted delivery. Skills in surface functionalisation physicochemical and biopharmaceutical characterisation of objects will be highly valued for this project. The research activity will be conducted in collaboration with members of the research unit and through external collaborations. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in setting up projects and in the life of the laboratory.
