Expected skills:
Applicants must show a strong interest in teaching as well as a high-level scientific record in accordance with UGA’s ambitions. They must identify with UGA’s values, that is, being open to the world, emphasising ethics and scientific integrity, showing an interest in teamwork and being committed to the community. They should also have a sense of responsibility, in particular with regard to environmental and social issues.
Context and educational objectives:
Educational expectations
The successful candidate will mainly teach experimental social psychology and social cognition, but also methodology and data processing in psychology. As such, we are looking for proven skills in data processing in psychology, in particular with a good knowledge of the model comparison approach and mixed models (an aptitude for these aspects will be demonstrated in particular by publications, presentations, or training courses), as well as a solid knowledge of new research practices in psychology (use of power analyses, pre-registrations, data availability, etc.). These courses may be taught at different levels of the psychology department's bachelor's/master's program. The application file should specify a plan for integrating the course into the programme.
Research project and scientific impact:
Scientific profile
- The successful candidate will join the Social Cognition research group within the LIP/PC2S laboratory. Their main research topic should fall within the field of social cognition, understood as the study of the processes through which people make sense of themselves, others, and the surrounding world, as well as the consequences of these thoughts on social behavior. Research in the field of meta-science (including data processing aspects) is expected as part of the application. The successful candidate’s research should be compatible with the work conducted within this research group. Accordingly, the application should include a project outlining the candidate’s planned scientific integration within the Social Cognition group.
- The successful candidate must have first-author publications in internationally recognised journals in social psychology. They must have at least one publication in a leading psychology journal or in a top-tier generalist journal, addressing a topic relevant to the discipline. Particular attention will be paid to the consistency between the applicant’s publications and the specialisation targeted by this recruitment.
- Research experience conducted outside the PhD laboratory — such as research stays during the PhD, postdoctoral fellowships, or positions in other institutions — involving teams distinct from those of the doctoral work, will be considered an asset.
- The successful candidate should also demonstrate involvement in international research networks (e.g., international collaborations, membership in major professional associations such as EASP) to contribute to the internationalisation and excellence of the laboratory’s research. Active international collaborations will be viewed favorably.
- The successful candidate will supervise master’s research projects and, in the longer term, may (co-)supervise doctoral theses.
- A solid knowledge of, and regular commitment to, open science practices (e.g., preregistration, data sharing, etc.) is expected.
