Expected skills:
Applicants must show a strong interest in teaching as well as a high-level scientific record in accordance with UGA’s ambitions. They must identify with UGA’s values, that is, being open to the world, emphasising ethics and scientific integrity, showing an interest in teamwork and being committed to the community. They should also have a sense of responsibility, in particular with regard to environmental and social issues.
Context and educational objectives:
Educational expectations
The successful candidate will teach didactics classes in the LLCER department as well as in the training course for the field of teaching (Bachelor’s and Master’s). They will be required to supervise Master’s theses of CAPES graduates.
They will also teach Spanish classes (grammar, translation, maîtrise de la langue, written and oral comprehension, rhetoric and argumentation, …), especially at the undergraduate level of LEA and LLCER.
Additionally, it is expected of them that they will organise collective and innovating thinking to renew pedagogical practices taking into account, on the one hand, the changes in the student attendees and the changes of the teaching context, and on the other hand, the coming reform of teacher training.
Administrative responsibilities
The successful candidate will take on responsibilities and/or pedagogical coordination tasks within the department of Spanish Studies, and more widely, the Sociétés, Cultures et Langues Etrangères UFR (as studies or department director, or cross-languages supervisor, among others). They will be an integral part of UGA (collective tasks, the LIDILEM or university councils, recruitment committees…).
Research project and scientific impact:
Scientific profile
The recruited senior lecturer will primarily focus on scientific research in the field of foreign or second language acquisition, regardless of the stage of acquisition or the linguistic aspect. Their projects will primarily be developed within the framework of Axe 3 of LIDILEM: Sociolinguistics, Acquisition, Multimodality. They will be asked to collaborate with projet CALMER, a multilingual corpus of learners built from a same task, allowing comparative analyses between the different languages and the subjects’ primary language.
In addition to this acquisitionist perspective, an interest in language teaching and learning would be a real asset, with a secondary affiliation to LIDILEM axe 2. The successful candidate will be asked to participate, in conjunction with the teaching and learning of Spanish and its varieties, to the study of representations, attitudes, needs and strategies in learning, within a double dynamics of fundamental research, and of the research-development of tools and resources adapted to specific objectives. The point is to take into account distance and proximity at work in the process of the teaching and learning of Spanish, for itself and in relation to other languages (especially the Romance languages).
The framework for the successful candidate’s studies would include several of the following themes, in online or hybrid courses:
- the role and impact on the metalinguistic reflection in online or hybrid teaching;
- the place and functions of Spanish in online or hybrid training, in code-switching involving Spanish in plurilinguistic interactions (multimodal corpus analyses for example in projet ALPAGA and its sequels);
- intercultural variations among speakers of nationals from Spanish-language countries in online plurilingual exchanges (as an example, around the perception of the consequences of climate change - projet FORESEE - REPLI4C).
