The School of Agriculture and Environment at Massey University is seeking a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Farm Management to join the team based at our Manawatū campus in Palmerston North. This position is a full-time, permanent opportunity.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the future of New Zealand's agricultural and horticultural industries through high-quality teaching, impactful research, and strong industry engagement. Working within a collaborative academic environment, you will help shape the next generation of farm management professionals while building a respected research programme and fostering meaningful connections with the primary sector.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver engaging undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across a range of learning platforms, including online and digital delivery methods.
- Teach and develop content in Farm Management, Agribusiness, and Agricultural and Horticultural Systems, with a particular focus on analytical tools and techniques that support effective business and farm decision-making.
- Design and enhance courses, learning resources, and assessment activities that deliver excellent student outcomes.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, theses, and dissertations, supporting students to achieve their academic goals.
- Build and maintain a strong portfolio of postgraduate research students, including Master's and PhD candidates.
- Develop and lead a high-quality research programme in Farm Management and Agricultural and Horticultural Systems.
- Secure research funding through internal and external funding opportunities.
- Publish research findings in internationally recognised academic journals and other scholarly outlets.
- Present research at national and international conferences and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
- Collaborate with colleagues on research initiatives and interdisciplinary projects.
- Strengthen relationships with New Zealand's primary industries through industry engagement, extension activities, and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to the wider university community through academic leadership, professional service, and administrative responsibilities.
Mōu - About you
We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative academic with expertise in farm management, agribusiness, and agricultural or horticultural systems. You will bring a strong combination of industry knowledge, teaching capability, and research experience, along with a passion for supporting student success and advancing New Zealand's primary sector.
You will bring:
- A PhD in Farm Management or a related Agricultural or Horticultural discipline.
- Strong knowledge of Farm Management and Agribusiness within New Zealand and internationally.
- Experience and understanding of New Zealand primary production systems.
- Experience using farm management and primary production technologies and tools.
- Teaching and/or research experience within a tertiary education environment.
- An understanding of research, teaching, and industry engagement activities.
- Experience securing research funding, grants, or industry contracts.
- Confidence using digital technologies to support blended and online learning.
- Knowledge of agricultural innovation, including digital technologies, data, and AI applications in farm management.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with students, colleagues, and industry stakeholders

The salary will depend on skills and experience but will be in the range of NZD$107,916 - $166,584.
