Following a period of initial training, the postholder will undertake a varied range of duties supporting the delivery of services to researchers, students, staff, and visitors.
Key responsibilities will include the care and preservation of rare books, manuscripts, and archival materials; collection documentation and record management; supporting teaching and learning initiatives that utilise Special Collections; assisting with exhibitions, outreach activities, and public engagement programmes; and contributing to the ongoing development and promotion of the collections.
The appointee will be expected to work with a high degree of autonomy, planning and prioritising their workload to ensure that objectives and deadlines are met. They will possess excellent organisational and communication skills and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining accurate and consistent records and procedures. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Library and University and contribute to the continued development of services within Special Collections and Archives.
Salary
Senior Library Assistant (2026): €46,216 – €56,092 p.a. (7 points)
Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
