About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is recruiting a Senior Manager, Global Engagement and Partnerships to join Te Kahupapa - International Office in a fixed-term, full-time position for 18 months based in Wellington.

This is a leadership role, responsible for overseeing the development, management, and continuous improvement of the University’s international partnerships. You will lead a small team to deliver high-quality outcomes across joint training programmes, articulation agreements, preparatory pathways, and other initiatives that support the University’s internationalisation agenda.

The role is central to building and sustaining relationships with partner institutions, government agencies, and organisations worldwide – ensuring that partnerships align with the University’s recruitment, revenue, and academic collaboration goals. You will monitor performance, identify opportunities and risks, and provide strategic advice that enhances the University’s global presence, reputation, and competitive advantage.

This is a highly collaborative position where strategic leadership, relationship management, and operational delivery come together to drive international success.

• Experience in international partnerships, student mobility, or global engagement.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Strong interpersonal and cultural awareness, with the ability to work across different contexts.
• Proven people leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and empower others.
• The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery.
