About the Role

This is a senior leadership opportunity to shape and advance Flinders University’s commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and knowledges. The Senior Manager - Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement provides strategic leadership in Indigenous engagement and policy, contributing to the development and implementation of the University’s Reconciliation Action Plan, Indigenous strategy, strategic priorities, and Indigenous Student Success initiatives.

Overseeing the Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement, you will guide a high‑performing team and work in close partnership with the Pro‑Chancellor (Indigenous). You will provide authoritative advice, insight and influence at the most senior levels of the University, contributing to decisions that have lasting impact across policy, culture and practice.

This role offers the opportunity to embed Indigenous perspectives across the University’s policy lifecycle and major initiatives, and to drive meaningful outcomes for Indigenous staff, students and communities. Your leadership will be visible, valued and essential to the University’s ongoing journey of reconciliation and self‑determination.

Why This Role Matters

Indigenous leadership at Flinders University is critical to creating lasting change — not only for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and staff, but for the University’s culture, priorities and relationships with community. This role exists to drive change through the promotion and inclusion of Indigenous voices, knowledges and aspirations within strategy, policy and decision‑making.

The position carries real influence. It shapes how the University meets its responsibilities under reconciliation, advances self‑determination, and partners with Indigenous communities in ways that are respectful, accountable and outcomes‑focused. The work you lead will directly affect access to education, student success, workforce development and institutional integrity.

This is a role for an experienced Indigenous leader who is motivated by impact — someone who wants their cultural authority, professional expertise and leadership to translate into tangible, system‑level outcomes now and for future generations.
