Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Manager, Industry Engagement to join Industry Engagement, International and Business Development, Chancellery Division.

The Manager, Industry Engagement plays a key role in connecting industry, government and not for profit partners with QUT’s world class research capability, with a strong focus on health and health related research. Working closely with researchers, research centres and senior leaders, this role builds high value partnerships that support research translation, commercialisation and real world impact. This position is instrumental in identifying collaboration and investment opportunities, negotiating and formalising partnerships, and supporting the creation of long term, mutually beneficial relationships. Reporting to the Director, Industry Engagement (Health and Social Impact), the role contributes directly to QUT’s industry engagement objectives and external research income targets.

The role sits within the Industry Engagement function in QUT’s International and Business Development Portfolio, part of the Chancellery Division. The Portfolio leads the University’s international outreach, industry engagement and philanthropic fundraising, and is central to strengthening QUT’s global and industry connections. Industry Engagement works across the University to link external partners with QUT researchers, enabling knowledge transfer, commercialisation and impact. The team collaborates closely with academic staff, research centres and professional units to support industry aligned research, innovation and long-term partnerships that advance QUT’s mission as the university for the real world.

What you need to succeed

  1. Completion of postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline area and extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  2. Demonstrated involvement in establishing and maintaining long-term industry relationships and commercialisation activities across a related range of disciplines and activities.
  3. Demonstrated ability in building strong and beneficial partnerships, which enhance the university’s reputation.
  4. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to effectively influence and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  5. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills including the interpretation of policy, compliance, legislative and regulatory documents with an ability to balance the requirements of these with organisational objectives.
  6. Demonstrated ability to contribute to positive change in an evolving business development environment.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
