Senior Postdoctoral Researcher

Location: RDM Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU

We are seeking an experienced Postdoctoral Researcher to join our laboratory team in the Radcliffe Department of Medicine (RDM), Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine offers a vibrant and dynamic research environment, with state-of-the-art facilities and a multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing cardiovascular science.

This opportunity is particularly suited to a Postdoctoral Researcher who has established expertise in cardiovascular disease. The successful candidate will join a leading research group supported by a prestigious five-year renewable British Heart Foundation (BHF) Professorship awarded to Professor Keith Channon.

As the senior scientist you will lead a programme of research investigating the molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular disease. Your research may utilise a range of approaches, including targeted genetic murine models, primary cell culture and analysis, multi-omics, and bioinformatics. The biological focus will be on vascular biology, immune cell function and metabolism, with an emphasis on understanding the role of new genes and pathways.

In addition to leading your own research, the successful post holder will contribute to the leadership and direction of the group’s research, attract and secure external grant funding, and supervise students and fellows. You will receive strong support to foster your career development and establish your research independence.

This is a full-time appointment on a fixed-term contract for five years, with the possibility of renewal. The post is funded by the British Heart Foundation, and the post holder will be based at the Centre for Human Genetics, Oxford (OX3 7BN) within the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine.

Applications for this vacancy are to be submitted online. You will be required to upload a CV, supporting statement outlining how you meet the selection criteria for the role, and a brief statement of research interests (describing how your past experience and future plans fit with the position).

Please note that only applications received before midday on January 12th 2026 can be considered. Interviews are scheduled to take place on January 23rd 2026.

For informal enquiries, please contact Professor Keith Channon: keith.channon@cardiov.ox.ac.uk or cvm_personnel@cardiov.ox.ac.uk.
