Senior Project Liaison (Part-Time)

The Home-School Connections Team, under the leadership of Dr. Adina Schick, follows a partnership-based model to address the socio-cultural context of children's early development and learning at home and school, with a close focus on children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds. Our work spans two main areas: understanding the discourse and linguistic features of child-caregiver interactions, as well as exploring ways in which schools and childcare centers incorporate culturally grounded family practices to support children's learning and development. We take a strength-based approach to understanding the ways minoritized families support their children's development and strongly believe that building solid home-school connections requires adopting a bidirectional approach, including bringing salient home and community practices into the classroom setting.

Currently, we are seeking up to 2 part-time (i.e., 20-27 hours/week) Senior Project Liaisons for the months of November and December to assist with data analysis and the preparation of materials for the scaling up of a culturally-responsive classroom-based oral storytelling program (i.e., SEEDS) aimed at supporting the early education and development of culturally and linguistically diverse children enrolled in New York City preschools. Senior Project Liaisons are expected to have prior experience working with the SEEDS program.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Taking the lead in exploring Phase I data and running analyses
  • Assisting with creation of materials and protocol for the next phase of SEEDS

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly base rate for this position is $35-$45/hour. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Per NYU's remote-work policy, this position is expected to be fully remote.

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • A Masters degree or PhD in Developmental Psychology or a related field
  • Previous experience with the SEEDS intervention
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong data analysis skills

The position will begin November 3rd. To apply, please send a cover letter and CV/resume.
