Senior Research Assistant / Research Assistant I/II (Ref: 2600633) Department of Early Childhood Education Project Title: KeySteps@JC (Phase Two) Project [Appointment Period: 11 months] Leveraging the successful experience and invaluable learnings in phase one, KeySteps@JC (Phase Two) launched in August 2022 with a mission to enhance children’s well-being by establishing community-based children’s centres and running kindergarten-based interventions for underprivileged families. The Education University of Hong Kong has joined this multi-party and multidisciplinary project in phase two, and will be endeavoring to children’s access to quality educational experiences. This phase will be five years (2022-2027) targeting to cover 70,000 children aged from 3 to 6 and their families in 5 selected districts. The appointee for Senior Research Assistant will play a key role in the ‘KeySteps@JC (Phase Two)’ initiative, overseeing technical research, managing large data sets, and leading junior staff to ensure the project meets its strategic goals. His/her responsibilities also include conducting literature reviews, preparing research proposals, developing research instruments, administering surveys and interviews, performing data analysis, preparing and editing reports, and supervising the project. The appointee is expected to participate in key meetings, track progress to ensure KPIs are met, ensure effective communication within the team and with external partners, design project protocols, and perform other duties as assigned by the Project/Grant Holder or their delegates. The appointee for Research Assistant I/II will provide event and administrative support to this sizeable project. He/she will be responsible for school recruitment, liaising with parents and kindergartens, administering stardardised tests, data collection and report, literature search and review, and any other duties as assigned. Applicants for Senior Research Assistant should possess a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Science, Psychology, or related disciplines with at least one year of post-master’s degree full-time work experience, or a doctorate. They should be proficient in using quantitative research and statistical tools (e.g., SPSS, E-Prime, R), demonstrate high proficiency in spoken and written English and Cantonese, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment is also essential. Applicants for Research Assistant I should possess a Bachelor’s Degree or above in Education, Early Childhood, Social Science, Psychology, or a related discipline. He/She should be familiar with at least one research software (e.g., SPSS, Python). Applicants for Research Assistant II should possess at least Level 2 or equivalent or above in five subjects including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics in HKDSE; or Grade E (Level 2) or above in five subjects including Chinese, English (Syllabus B) and Mathematics in HKCEE or equivalent.
