higher assistant for the employment on the associate position senior research assistant, in the field of biotechnical sciences, branch of agriculture, 1 employee, for employment on and during the Croatian Science Foundation project “Innovative vinification procedures for increasing the biological and nutritional potential of wine and vinification by-products of autochthonous and introduced grape varieties – VinNutriVit” (IP-2022-10-9128), on a fixed term, full-time basis, for the maximum period of 13 months, with a three-month trial period.

Mandatory requirements:
- Applicants must have completed a postgraduate university doctoral study programme and obtained an academic degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the field of Biotechnical sciences, specifically branch of Food Technology or Agriculture.
- Applicants must meet the requirements specified by the Croatian Science Foundation for the employment of senior research assistants (link),
- Applicants must meet the requirements specified by the Institute for Agriculture and Tourism according to the Ordinance on additional criteria for selection and re-selection to scientific, associate, and expert positions (link).
Specific Requirements
Additional criteria: excellence in previous scientific research work in the field of enology (work on scientific research projects, published scientific papers, participation in scientific conferences), work experience in wine laboratory, good knowledge of instrumental analysis techniques and of extraction of volatile aroma and fenolic compounds in wine (HS-SPME-GC-MS, GC×GC/MS-TOF, GC-FID, HPLC-DAD, HPLC-FLD, UV/Vis spectrophotometry), motivation of candidates, good knowledge of spoken and written English, and category B driving licence.

Along with the handwritten signature on the application, the following documents should be attached:

- Proof of completed an appropriate graduate or integrated university studies (a copy of the diploma, certificate of completion of studies, or confirmation
- Evidence of PhD degree within the required field and branch,
- Resume of scientific activities including a list of publications,
- The proofs of fulfilling the additional requirements (if applicable).
Applicants must meet the criteria for appointment to the position prescribed by the Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette No. 119/22).
Applicants who have obtained a higher education qualification abroad should submit an application for recognition of foreign higher education qualifications issued by the Croatian Agency for Science and Higher Education or the Certificate on the initiation of the evaluation process of the foreign higher education qualification at the Agency for Science and Higher Education.
A complete application is considered to be the one that is signed by hand and contains all the information and attachments listed in the public call.
A person who has not submitted a timely or complete application or does not meet the formal requirements of the public call is not considered a candidate in the public call procedure.
By submitting the application, the applicants agree that the Institute of Agriculture and Tourism may collect, use and further process the data for the purpose of conducting the competition procedure in accordance with regulations governing personal data protection.
Candidates who, on the basis of special regulations, have advantage in employment, are obliged to refer to that right in their application and to attach all the evidence that special regulations prescribe for exercising the right. Preference in employment according to the call in question will be achieved in relation to other candidates only under equal conditions, established by this call.
Candidates who, on the basis of Article 102 of the Act on Croatian Veterans of the Homeland War and Members of Their Families (Official Gazette 121/17, 98/19, 84/21, 156/23), have the right to priority in employment, must refer to the that right and submit all the evidence for exercising the said right and have priority over other candidates only under equal conditions.

Selection process
Candidates who refer to priority rights in employment in accordance with Article 9 of the Act on Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities (Official Gazette 157/13, 152/14, 39/18, 32/20), except proof of meeting the required conditions, must provide also a proof of the established status of a disabled person.
The selected candidate will be invited to submit the originals of other proofs for meeting the formal conditions from the public call within a reasonable period of time, with a warning that failure to submit the required documents is considered a waiver of the employment relationship.
The expert committee for the implementation of the public call is appointed by the Scientific Council of the Institute for Agriculture and Tourism.
If necessary, knowledge and skills will be checked by written and/or oral testing, interview and/or conversation, and the content and method of testing, interview and/or conversation and resources for candidate preparation, place and time will be announced on the website of the Institute for Agriculture and Tourism: www.iptpo.hr. Candidates who do not attend the knowledge and skills test, interview and/or conversation will be considered to have withdrawn their application for the competition and will not be considered candidates for the competition. The time and place of the test will be announced at least five (5) days before the day set for the test on the website of the Institute for Agriculture and Tourism: www.iptpo.hr. If no persons who meet the basic prescribed conditions apply for the public call, or if the registered candidates do not pass the test, the head of the Institute will suspend the procedure for this call. The Institute reserves the right, in part or in full, to cancel the competition and reserves the right not to decide on the selection of candidates without a special explanation.
Delivery of the decision to all candidates is considered to be completed at the end of the eighth day from the publication on the website of the Institute for Agriculture and Tourism: www.iptpo.hr.
Persons of both genders have the right to apply for the competition under equal conditions.
Incomplete and untimely applications will not be considered.
Unselected candidates can appeal the decision to select another candidate to the head of the Institute.
The deadline for submitting applications for the competition is 30 days from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.
Applications for the competition and evidence of criteria fulfilment should be submitted in electronic form to e-mail natjecaj@iptpo.hr with the indication “Application for the competition for the position of senior research assistant- indicate the name of the project”. Candidates will be notified about the results of the call via the Institute's website www.iptpo.hr.
