Job Summary:
The Scholl lab in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics is seeking to hire a Senior Research Associate (Sr. RA). This position would join a team focused on understanding the functions of neurons and circuits in the visual system of ferrets during development. Experiments to be conducted are all in vivo. These include two-photon imaging of synapses and cells, two-photon optogenetic perturbations, chronic implants for high density electrodes for electrophysiological recordings, chronic implants for recording eye movements in freely moving animals, and studies of natural visual behaviors. In addition, there is opportunity for advanced data analysis, development of computational pipelines, and cellular and circuit modeling.

Examples of Work Performed
- Design, perform, and analyze independent experiments
- Writing sponsored project proposals for independent funding
- Presenting research findings at local, national, or international level
- Software development and animal care to support experiments
- Equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting
- In vivo Two-photon calcium imaging of cellular populations and synaptic inputs
- In vivo Large-scale extracellular electrophysiology (Neuropixels)
- Survival surgical procedures for viral injection and chronic implants
Work Location:
Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located at the Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora, CO

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire: Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in neuroscience, biophysics, psychobiology or similar fields, and 6-8 years of postdoctoral fellowship, research associate, or research faculty instructor experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or background within an experimental or wet lab working with whole animal models
- Experience with in vivo electrophysiology and/or two-photon imaging
- Experience with awake behaving recording of neural signals
- Experience with analysis of neural data
- Experience in Histological techniques
- Experience with Python, MatLab, or R
- Experience with nonmurine mammals

Anticipated Pay Range:
