- Remuneration: $127,947 base, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading

Details of the role
A Senior Research Associate (Level B) will contribute to the design, implementation, analysis and dissemination of clinical, epidemiological, and public health research focused on viral hepatitis (hepatitis B and hepatitis C), prison health, injecting drug use, and other priority populations. The position holder will be involved in research projects from inception through to completion and dissemination, with a primary focus on quantitative data analysis, interpretation of findings, and scientific manuscript development and publication.
The successful candidate will be expected to work both as part of a team and independently, while receiving strategic scientific mentorship and support. The position contributes to a portfolio of observational epidemiological studies, surveillance systems, cohort studies, and analyses of large clinical and administrative datasets. The role of Senior Research Associate reports to the Associate Professor and has no direct reports.
Some key skills required:
- A PhD in epidemiology biostatistics, public health, infectious diseases, health services research, or a closely related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Advanced proficiency in quantitative data analysis, including data management, statistical modelling and analysis using statistical software such as Stata and/or R.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake all stages of quantitative research, from development of analysis plans through to dissemination of findings, with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated experience analysing observational, surveillance, cohort, administrative, health services or clinical research datasets.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare scientific manuscripts suitable for publication in peer-reviewed journals, with limited supervision.
- Develop statistical analysis plans and undertake advanced quantitative analyses using commonly used statistical packages such as Stata and/or R.
- Analyse large observational, surveillance, cohort, clinical and administrative datasets.
- Conceptualise and lead the development of manuscripts for scientific publications (including statistical analysis, interpretation of findings, preparation of manuscript drafts, coordination of coauthor review and responses to peer-review comments) and contribute to publications initiated by collaborators and colleagues.
