Senior Research Fellow (Applied Health and Social Care Research)
An ambitious academic with a passion for applied health and social care research and research-informed education? Looking to work with world-leading professors and further your career in a leading UK research-intensive university? We can help.
We are seeking an ambitious and experienced Senior Research Fellow to help shape and grow our world-leading applied research portfolio. The School of Healthcare is investing in its research capacity and capability - particularly in Ageing Well and Quality and Safety - and this role offers significant scope for intellectual leadership, grant development, and career progression within a supportive, research-intensive environment. You will work alongside leading researchers, contributing to high-quality, impactful applied health and care research that improves lives and benefits society. You will play a key role in shaping, leading and delivering an ambitious programme of work focused on social care and the health–social care interface.
Our research addresses questions that matter - enhancing quality of life and experience for people accessing care, and improving the quality of work for staff. Our work spans areas such as technologies to enhance care and outcomes, quality and safety, the use of data and information to improve care, personal care practices (e.g. mouth care), and the workforce. We use a diverse range of methods, including big data analysis, social network analysis, qualitative and mixed methods, and complex intervention development and evaluation.
A defining feature of our approach is our commitment to capacity building and knowledge mobilisation. We work collaboratively with people accessing care, their families, care staff, providers, and commissioners to ensure that our research delivers meaningful impact in both practice and policy. We particularly welcome candidates who are comfortable working across disciplinary and sector boundaries and who value collaborative, engaged research.
Primarily research-focused, with contributions to research-led education, you will lead and co-lead externally funded studies and provide expert input into established programmes. You will have a PhD in a relevant field and be able to demonstrate postdoctoral experience in applied health or social care research.
