Description of Post
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Fellow to lead the development of embedded systems technologies and applications for product portfolios and manufacturing processes in the Health and Life Sciences sector. The successful candidate will join an established team delivering innovative wireless solutions for over two decades and will drive bespoke advanced manufacturing solutions for SMEs in the PEACEPLUS region.
The role will advance research in emerging embedded wireless technologies, with a focus on autonomous operation and remote monitoring, while collaborating with RF researchers to integrate new 5G/6G wireless solutions into products and manufacturing environments.
Essential Qualifications
- PhD in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering or a related field, OR, equivalent research and innovation experience in an industrial setting - 4 years fulltime research after primary degree
- Minimum 2.1 Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering or a related field.
- Strong track record of 5 + years of independent research into embedded systems for advanced manufacturing systems demonstrated through high impact publications OR, 5+ years hardware/software integration and embedded systems and firmware applied research and innovation in industrial and manufacturing sectors.
- Research or industry experience embedded hardware–software architectures for smart machines, robotics, and industrial equipment.
- 5+ years of experience developing embedded or firmware software, experience in C, embedded C++ and Python
- 5+ years of experience with multiple MCU architectures, e.g. ST (STM32), NXP, Microchip, TI, and Nordic.
- Experience in technology transfer and industry engagement
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
