The Role
UNNC is seeking to recruit a Senior Research Fellow in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
The successful candidate will lead and deliver individual and collaborative research in the area of MRI and contribute to the direction of research programmes within the department. The role will also involve engaging with research platforms such as the UNNC Sir Peter Mansfield MRI Centre. This position offers the opportunity to significantly impact MRI research within the university and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, plan, develop, and conduct individual and/or collaborative research objectives, projects, and proposals, both as an individual or as part of a broader programme.
- Acquire, analyze, interpret, and evaluate research findings/data using selected or developed approaches, techniques, models, and methods.
- Establish a national reputation in MRI and regularly disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed publications, conferences, and other media.
- Generate income through innovative research proposals and successful funding bids.
- Manage the application of a variety of methodologies, approaches, and techniques for research, and, where necessary, devise new methods.
- Communicate complex and conceptual research ideas to diverse audiences, including peers and individuals with limited subject knowledge.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external partners, both nationally and internationally, to advance research projects.
- Manage assets, budgets, and research resources effectively to meet objectives and deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with the University’s safety policies and maintain safe working practices.
- Participate in training and staff development activities.
- Maintain professional development, expertise, and awareness.
- Undertake additional tasks as required.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- A PhD in a relevant subject area.
- Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills in English.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and analytical methods relevant to MRI and material sciences.
- Extensive research experience in the MRI field.
- A strong record of published research in relevant areas.
- Proven experience and success in delivering research results.
