About us

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic research team (maternity leave cover) working to improve psychological outcomes in people affected by rare dementias such as posterior cortical atrophy (PCA), primary progressive aphasia (PPA), behavioural variant frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD), and people living at-risk of inheriting frontotemporal dementia (fFTD) or Alzheimer’s disease (FAD).

About the role

We are looking for a research fellow/senior research fellow to cover a senior research fellow/programme manager role on the Genetic and Non-Memory Led Dementia (GNMLD) talk project. The role comprises three areas of work. First, the postholder will be responsible for identifying opportunities for project development including securing future funding. Second, the postholder will be responsible for programme management, overseeing project delivery. Third they will contribute to the data collection, analysis and dissemination of mixed methods research activities within the study.

Starting salary is between £51,246 - £56,431 per annum (negotiable dependent on experience).

An acceptable Enhanced DBS check is required to carry out this role.

This is a fixed-term role for 1 year starting from April/May 2026 when maternity leave cover begins.

About you

You will have a PhD in Psychology, Neuropsychology, Clinical Neuroscience , Medical Sciences or related discipline; experience of building successful working relationships with key stakeholders and securing funding for research projects or fellowship awards; and a publication record including several first and/or senior author positions.

Criteria for Senior Research Fellow include: At least secondary supervision experience of doctoral-level students or primary supervision experience of MSc students or line management experience of early career researchers; experience of research into online interventions or access to those interventions; experience for research in people with dementia, their carers or those at genetic risk of dementia; experience of having been involved in the co-leadership or management of a large research project.

Applicants who meet the essential criteria but do not have the level of experience detailed above may be considered for the role as a Research Fellow at Grade 7.
