Job Description Summary
Lead ongoing research projects funded by NIH, the Human Pancreas Analysis Program (HPAP) for T1D and T2D. Ensure the successful execution of ongoing studies, analyze the scientific results to prepare presentations and write manuscripts based on those results. Conduct research in the field of human islet biology, including bulk and single cell RNA analysis, bulk and single cell chromatin analysis, and DNA methylation studies. Collect data for preparation of grant proposals, manuscripts and progress reports in addition to the supervision and training of students and postdoctoral fellows. Supervise two staff members working on the HPAP program.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead ongoing research projects and the staff of NIH-sponsored projects related to the analysis of human tissues relevant to diabetes. Ensure the successful execution of ongoing studies, analyze the scientific results to prepare presentations and write manuscripts based on those results.
- Supervise existing laboratory staff, including facilitation, documentation, analysis and communication needed for ongoing laboratory work on behalf of the Principal Investigator.
- Conduct research, including single nucleus RNAseq and ATACseq, DNA methylation, and spatial transcriptomics
- Manuscript preparation. Collecting data for preparation of grant proposals and progress reports. Attend research meetings at local and national levels as needed.
- Train and monitor progress of junior laboratory members, including graduate students and postdocs
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Philosophy, and 5 to 7 years of postdoctoral experience is required.
Position is contingent upon continued funding.
