Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Research Programme Coordinator to join the team at the Liggins Institute, to support academics through the research lifecycle, from initial costing and submission of high-quality research proposals to the ongoing management of active projects and project closures. This role will be at our Grafton Campus.

This is a fulltime (37.5h per week) permanent opportunity

The salary range for this role is between $73,400 - $90,700 per annum, depending on skills and experience

Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team

Reporting through to the Research Programme Manager, you will be working closely with a tight knit research support team that includes a Research Services Manager, Research Programme Managers, and a Research Programme Coordinator. In addition, you will be supporting a range of researchers, from those starting out in their research career though to high-profile researchers making a significant contribution to health research.

He kōrero mōu | About you

The successful candidate will be a highly organised individual, who has proven research management and financial experience in a research-intensive setting, along with excellent communication skills. They will be a positive, self-starter with the ability to build relationships and maintain a high level of customer service while proactively finding solutions to a range of complex issues. This is a busy environment, so they will need to be flexible and able to balance multiple demands to a high level of accuracy, all with an exceptional attention to detail.

You will have:

  • Experience developing and advising academic staff on funding opportunities/proposals.
  • Come with demonstrable experience of research financial systems, processes and budget development.
  • Have experience in a complex organisation or a clinical research setting.
  • Adept at problem-solving, with the ability and autonomy to effectively prioritise your own workload to meet deadlines, while working as part of a team and supporting wider team goals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Be able to demonstrate leadership or process improvement in the research management environment.
