About the Opportunity

SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Northeastern University, located in the heart of Boston, MA, welcomes applications for a Senior Research Scientist position. The Aramaki Lab group focuses on experimental astrophysics research with an emphasis on dark matter searches and gamma-ray observations, engaging in SuperCDMS (Cryogenic Dark Matter Search), GAPS (General AntiParticle), and GRAMS (Gamma-Ray and AntiMatter Survey) projects.

The Senior Research Scientist will perform basic or applied research on critical or difficult problems involving the development of new theories or methodologies. Additionally, the Senior Research Scientist will have some budget management responsibility, participate in external professional activities (i.e. publication of research, attendance/participation in professional conferences), and exercise functional and administrative management over supporting research staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. or equivalent in Physics required. Applicants should have a strong research record and experience (at least 6 years), including data analysis and laboratory work, preferably in hardware development for balloon missions, as well as demonstrated project management experience, including supervisory, budgetary and general administrative skills. The successful candidate will undertake substantially full-time research or scholarship and will coordinate with multiple senior researchers/collaborators in different institutions.

Compensation Grade/Pay Type: 111S

Expected Hiring Range: $86,488.00 - $122,163.25

With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
