Offer Description
JOB DESCRIPTION: CIC energiGUNE is recruiting a Senior Researcher to support the strategic direction of CIC energiGUNE’s future portfolio and technology roadmap in the field of low-temperature water electrolyser.
The person will contribute to the design, development, and manufacturing scale-up of electrolyser components for current and future technologies.
Main job functions:
- Build a new generation of low temperature electrolysis equipment.
- Lead technology development of stack components low temperature electrolysis to improve attributes such as performance, lifetime, cost, sustainability and scalability.
- Develop and innovate implementation of materials for stack components of low temperature electrolysis, fuel cells and flow cells.
- Responsibility for the testing of electrolysers in the range of kW.
- Develop protocols for the evaluation of the components of low temperature electrolysis.
- Analyse mechanisms of electrolyser performance loss and degradation.
- Definition and implementation of testing protocols ensure quality and safety concepts based on EU and international standards.
- Represent CIC energiGUNE in a professional manner in all public and industrial communications; uphold the philosophy of the organization to provide high-performing technology to maximize customer satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Research Field: Chemistry » Applied chemistry
Education Level: PhD or equivalent
Specific Requirements
- EngD or PhD in Chemistry, electrochemistry, or similar.
- 3+ years' postdoctoral, or strong hands-on industrial experience in the development, testing and validation low temperature electrolyzers is required.
- Extensive knowledge in low temperature electrolyzer components such as bipolar plates, porous transport layers, gas diffusion layers, flow fields, and other components is required.
- Deep expertise in the role of individual components, materials, materials processing, and process selection, as well as their impact on overall performance, durability, cost, and manufacturability.
- Exceptional data analysis and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in both a self-directed and team environment with multiple projects, prioritizing and meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated aptitude for systems thinking and creative problem solving.
- Strong leadership skills, communication skills and assertiveness required as well as experience in leading a development team.
- Ability to think logical and critically and take the most appropriate decisions from the available resources.
- Willingness to work in interdisciplinary environment to develop joint innovative solutions.
- Excellent level of written and spoken English
