Your personal sphere of play:
We are looking for a Research Coordinator (postdoc) to set up, establish and organise the research network ‘Democracy and Human Rights’ (‘democracy and human rights’), an interdisciplinary initiative at the University of Vienna that highlights, brings together and promotes relevant, excellent and socially relevant research.
Your future tasks:
The Senior Scientist will participate in the development, establishment and organisation of one of the largest research networks on issues of democracy and human rights in Austria. Formally, the position is based at the Institute for Constitutional and Administrative Law of the Faculty of Law under the direction of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Michael Lysander Fremuth.
The Senior Scientist is expected to organise and communicate the activities of the research network together with the co-directors of the research network (Michael Lysander Fremuth and Sylvia Kritzinger), the steering committee of the research network and another Senior Scientist. In addition to dealing with legal issues of democracy and human rights (research, analysis, interviews and publications), strategic planning and accompanying administrative functions, this also includes networking among the researchers in the research network, designing and implementing conferences, workshops and other events, and communicating relevant activities, including knowledge exchange (‘third mission’) with the public sector and society. Conducting your own research on topics related to the research network, particularly in the context of third-party funded projects, is possible as long as it is compatible with the primary interests of the research network.
This is part of your personality:
- You have completed your law degree and doctorate with outstanding results;
- You have a particular interest in issues of democracy and human rights, ideally already demonstrated by your previous (research) activities;

- You are interested in a career in research administration and would like to contribute to the development and organisation of an interdisciplinary research initiative;
- You already have experience in planning, organising and moderating events (e.g. workshops, panel discussions, conferences);
- You present your research results at international conferences;
- You publish your research results in international journals;
- You teach independently in accordance with the provisions of the university's collective agreement;
- You are cooperative, team-oriented, reliable and responsible;
- You have very good written and oral communication skills in German and English.
